Ann Morrison

Ann Morrison is a lecturer with The Information Environments Program, School of ITEE, at The University of Queensland in studio process, physical computing interactive environments, and information visualisation. Morrison is an installation, and new media artist with a 19 year exhibition history and 9 years multimedia industry experience. Morrison is currently writing, researching and has constructed a dual reality interactive art installation to consider the nature of ludic engagement with interactive technologies. During the past three years at UQ Morrison has been involved with the Interaction Design Research Division and the Australasian CRC for Interaction Design collaborating in locative experiences, augmented reality educational environments, and MUVE and ARG virtual-hybrid environments and communities. Morrison has been coaching a global UQ and Stanford team on an iRoom configurable spaces project and working as a researcher/designer/consultant with HxI [braccetto] project. In 2008 Morrison will spend the year writing up her PhD thesis and working as a consultant on interactive technology/ collaborative projects.

Talk2Me, at ReActive exhibition, The Block, QUT, Brisbane. This physical computing interactive environment is an adaptation of a virtual environment into a hybrid physical and virtual environment. This was a major new large-scale work, whose further exhibition is under discussion with several arts institutions. This is an example of art and technology merging (with careful research in both areas) into  an interactive physical computing environment.
