USA trip
November 10th - 24th 2004

I went to the USA for a conference in Los Angeles, and then took a few days off afterwards and had a little look around the states.  Spent a few days in LA, then across to Flagstaff Arizona to see the Grand Canyon, and then finally a few days in New York before flying home.

Santa Monica
Los Angeles
California

Santa Monica Beach.  I hired a bike and rode up to Venice Beach and on to Marina Del Rey
The pizza slices were enormous!!!
Santa Monica Pier.  There was a seal swiming just off the pier

Sedona
Arizona
Cathedral Rock, we climbed up to the base of the centre rock column for lunch
View from our lunch spot

We followed a washout all the way back to the carpark
Nicholas Cage's house

Little Colorado River
Arizona

Grand Canyon
Arizona
It was bloody cold, plenty of snow around
I tried to take a picture through a telescope, didn't really turn out :)
Sunset over the Canyon
Sarah, me, Josie and Tim, the guys I hung out with, drank and played pool with in Flagstaff

Central Park
New York
Autumn (or Fall as the Americans call it) was absolutley amazing.

World Trade
Centre Site
Ground Zero

Very interesting with what they have done to the site.  It's all fenced off and you are not allowed to leave flowers or anything.  They've put up big poster boards with lots of facts about the site and the buildings and what happened on Sep 11.  It's not overdone, excessively depressing or emotional, just lots of facts and figues.

The Bronx
Yankee Stadium in the background

Downtown Manhattan

Woolworths building, the tallest in the world when it was built in the 1930's
New York City Hall
Brooklyn Bridge

View from Empire
State Building
Looking down on Macy's
Chrysler Building and the Hudson river.  Queens is in the background
Two fantastic girls I hung out with while i was in New York, Sandra and Louise
Times Square, 42nd Street and Broadway
Fuzzy pic of Macy's Xmas tree
Lincon Centre, home to the New York Opera and where we saw Carmina Birana

Ferry across to Liberty Island

Looking back at lower Manhatten and Battery Park
Ellis Island
The lady herself.  Was a little disappointed, was expecting her to be much bigger

Central Park South / Fifth Avenue

Trump Towers
Top of 5th Avenue
Madison Square Garden.  The Wiggles were the headline act while we were there :)
Saw Chicago on Broadway in a beautiful old theatre
We got free tickets from the Hostel to see Carmina Birana.  We rocked up in jeans and T-shirts, while most of the paying guests were in black tie.  We felt very underdressed :)
Stomp was absolutly amazing.  2 hours high energy drumming and percussion that simply blows the mind away
