The Field
UPDATED! The Proposed 2003 Field CAD drawing is downloadable here in png format.
Several things to note. The corner pieces are not included in this CAD drawing. The Free Kick Line is not dashed (this is a possible change to the rules as a dashed line looks kinda silly). Detail E is shown twice with and without dimensions for clarity. No responsibility is taken for inaccuracies.
Please feel free to use our CAD drawings of the 2002 F180 league field. (Drawn by David Ball in Febuary 2002.) The approximate total cost of the field (including labour) was AUS$1600. Note that the defence width distance has been changed since this field was drawn.

The RoboRoo field has several non-standard special features. The most noticable is the large backing piece (700mm high) on one side of the field. This is there so that we dont have to fetch the ball when our robots miss the goal. This is because when the golf ball hits the angled walls at 5.0m/s (projected by our powerful crossbow kicker) the ball can go quite high. (In actual fact the ball can (and does) still make it over this wall! However the amount of fetching is substantially less.)
The next feature is the that field has been constructed so that it can be easily moved. The field is actually a set of wooden pieces that fit together tightly using the jigsaw connections that are located on the bottom.
The last is the aluminium strips that provide the support to the field structure. These provide significant support to the field especially while it is in transit.
