 What do we teach?

ITEE teaches into a number of bachelor degree programs, including Engineering (aerospace, biomedical imaging, communications, computer systems, electrical, mechatronics and software), Information Technology and Multimedia Design.

Additionally, there are opportunities with most of these bachelor degrees to complete dual degrees, such that for an extra year or two of study, two degrees are taken out simultaneously. For example, the BInfTech degree can be combined with degrees in Arts, Business Management, Commerce, Economics, Engineering, Journalism, Law and Science.

Our bachelor degrees offer students a meaningful university experience that will lead them to jobs in industry. Sponsors of industry placements for our later year students have included:

Technology One Opcom Pty Ltd
Carmen Systems Hypersystems International
Dingo Maintenance Generic Solutions
Vigil Systems Polymorphic Solutions
Australian Tax Office Queensland Department of Primary Industries
Dialect Solutions Queensland Health
IBM-Global Services Australia Lifeline
Mincom Pty Ltd Channel 7

The reinvigorated three-year Information Technology program offers hands-on, project-focused study along with options such as a "sandwich" period of workplace experience, summer semester, combination with degrees from other faculties, and credit for industry certifications. The Bachelor of Multimedia Design trains students to design the computer interfaces of the future.  Entry scores for the Bachelor of Engineering program are higher than any other university in Queensland offering engineering, indicating the program's attractiveness as a quality learning experience.

Some of the organisations that sponsor scholarships and prizes for our students are:

ABC NEMMCO (National Electricity Market Management Company)
Microsoft Pty Ltd

CISRA (Canon Information Systems Research Australia Pty Ltd)

Accenture CEED (Corporate Education for Enterprise Development)
GHD RS Components
SAP Boeing
Women in Technology Farnell in one

At the postgraduate level, we offer programs for both the experienced engineer and IT professional, being the Master of Engineering - in both traditional fields and the developing fields of complex systems, telecommunications and biomedical engineering - and the Master of Science (Computer Science).

We also offer programs for students whose background is in a field other than IT, but who recognise that advances in science, commerce and the arts will be inextricably linked to information technology in some way and that lifelong learning is their key to success. The Master of Information Technology and the Master of Interaction Design can be completed in three semesters. All ITEE masters degrees can be "articulated" via a graduate certificate and graduate diploma, giving further flexibility.
