ARC Future Fellow - Prof. Andrew Bradley

In 2011 Prof. Andrew Bradley successfully applied for a Future Fellowship. Leveraging on his expertise in virtual microscopy and imaging processing, Andrew’s research will contribute to the development of the next generation of virtual microscopy systems that not only provide superior image quality and focus control, but also access to advanced features such a quantitative analysis, multi-modal imaging and extended focal depth. To achieve this, the project will develop a novel image acquisition platform capable of acquiring both visible contrast and fluorescence images of whole specimens and develop novel algorithms for the construction, storage and retrieval of digital specimens for both on-line and off-line analysis. This project, which is a collaboration with Adelaide University and The Australian Centre for Visual Technologies, will contribute to the next generation of virtual microscopy systems that provide innovative features capable of significantly increasing the adoption of digital imaging technology throughout the field of diagnostic pathology. These tools will especially contribute to the screening and diagnosis of cervical, lung and bladder cancer.
