Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship

Marnie Lamprecht

Nov 2014

Dr. Anita Borg (1949–2003) was a visionary computer scientist who devoted her adult life to revolutionizing the way we think about technology and dismantling barriers that keep women and minorities from entering computing and technology fields. To celebrate her life and support of women in technology, Google developed the Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship.

We are pleased to announce that one of our students, Ms Marnie Lamprecht (pictured) has just won one of these prestigious scholarships.  The Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to female students who exemplify leadership and demonstrate passion for increasing the involvement of women in computer science.

Marnie is currently pursuing a PhD within Biomedical Engineering. Through her research on paediatric obstructive sleep apnoea she hopes to develop a screening tool that can be utilised in a non-clinical settings using actigraphy.
