Dr Philip Terrill wins a Faculty Teaching Excellence Award

Nov 2013
The Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Information Technology (EAIT) Teaching Excellence Awards recognise and reward individuals or small teams for the excellence of their teaching and making a significant contribution to the teaching and learning excellence in the Faculty. Each year, five awards are granted, and this year Dr Phillip Terrill was recognised for his outstanding work.

Phil was recognised for the consistently high student feedback he receives for his teaching in large core courses. His work on course redesign and implementation was noted by the award committee, particularly his ongoing dedication to integrating theory with practical contexts for students. This, together with the significant effort he put into building and developing teaching teams and coordinating large groups of tutors, has seen a clear (and in some cases stunning) improvement in course evaluations and student feedback.
