ARC Discovery Project Success

In 2012 Associate Professor Feng Liu (pictured right) and Mr Ewald Weber were awarded an ARC Discovery project to investigate 'Real-time cardiac magnetic resonance imaging: a compressed-sensing framework incorporating sensor design and multidimensional signal reconstruction' to commence in 2013. Conventional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) technology is fundamentally constrained by slow scan speeds. Taking a new approach to cardiac imaging - which integrates MRI hardware design with a novel dynamic imaging method based on compressed sensing - this project will enable faster and more accurate dynamic imaging for the diagnosis of heart disease.

Dr Liu was awarded a prestigious Discovery Outstanding Researcher Award (DORA) as part of the funding.
