ARC Discovery Grant Recipients

Congratulations to our staff who were successful in the latest round of ARC Discovery Grants.

Professor Stuart Crozier & Associate Professor Feng Liu have secured over $500,000 in ARC funding for their project to develop a new type of radiofrequency coil array to ensure the benefits of high-field magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can be made available in a broader range of applications.  This project aims to design and develop a rotating multi-channel radiofrequency coil array to facilitate production of detailed images that can be obtained quickly and safely.

Congratulations also to Associate Professor Aleks Rakic, Professor Stephen Wilson and their team who have secured $390,000 in ARC funding for their project that will develop terahertz imaging systems based on quantum cascade lasers for use in early skin cancer detection.

Dr Surya Singh and his counterparts at The University of Western Australia were also successful in securing $490,000 in ARC funding for their project aimed at creating a novel integrated framework for biomedical systems that can accurately target a needle.  It is hoped that through more accurate needling methods, less trauma and better patient outcomes will result.
