  1. Did somebody say UQ was all theory and not enough practice?  We're certainly proud of our ability to teach the abiding things, and advanced theory is the bedrock of an engineering career.  However, our programs have a component of project work and many courses incorporate practical or laboratory work, using the latest technology.  Increasingly, courses are being offered in intensive or flexible delivery mode, to suit those working full-time.

  2. Where is the best university teaching in Queensland?  Right here.  UQ has been independently rated among the top band of Australian universities for teaching quality and number 1 in Queensland.

  3. Overall, UQ is rated among the top 33 universities in the world (Times Higher Education Supplement, 2007), the top 5 in Asia-Pacific region (Shanghai Jiao Tong University study, 2007), the top 4 in Australia (Uni Melbourne study, 2004) and number 1 in Queensland (all three studies).

  4. As one of the top four research universities in Australia, UQ attracts high-quality academic staff, who excel in innovation and commercial development.  Their research and industry links feed into curriculum design and teaching.

  5. UQ offers the largest range of postgraduate engineering programs in Queensland.

  6. Our undergraduate programs, on which our postgraduate programs build, are accredited by the leading Australian professional engineering association, Engineers Australia, and the Master and Graduate Diploma in Software Engineering are also accredited at the professional level by the Australian Computer Society.

  7. We are stepping up our investment in engineering laboratories, to offer real-world equipment and resources.  UQ is participating in or negotiating collaborations with a number of other leading institutions to provide world-class laboratory experiences.  An example is UQ's involvement in the Australian hub of the MIT iCampus initiative.  The School of ITEE is creating remote labs for its students - real laboratories accessed via the Internet.

  8. UQ offers other great facilities, beautiful campuses, a renowned sub-tropical climate, students from all over the world, and international exchange programs.
