Research higher degree (RHD) students benefit from expert staff supervision, high quality infrastructure and a strong research culture. The School of ITEE has one of the largest RHD student enrolments in the University and conducts research in the areas of electrical engineering, information and communications technology and power and energy systems.
Research programs available
Master of Philosophy (MPhil)
The aim of the MPhil program is to provide research training for candidates that foster the development of independent research skills. Candidates undertake an original and significant research project that culminates in a thesis consistent with 1 to 2 years of full-time study and supervised research training.
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
The aim of the PhD program is to provide research training in a manner that fosters the development of independent research skills in candidates. The doctoral thesis provides evidence of a contribution of knowledge with a level of originality consistent with 3 to 4 years of full-time study and supervised research training. It also demonstrates a candidate's capacity for critical analysis and that they are capable of pursuing scholarly and programmatic research that answers significant questions with a 3 to 4 year time frame.
