Accommodation Options for Visitors to ITEE
Throughout the year, we host a number of visiting academics and students in our School. Accommodation options are limited for shorter term visitors (less than 6 months), and it is a fact that everyone has different tastes, budgets and expectations. This page has been prepared to provide information on options previous visitors have used, and approximate costs. Please take the time to browse through the different options to establish your preferences.
Visitors whose stay is for less than 3 months
This is the most difficult option as many accommodation providers insist on longer term occupancy or only have short term vacancies outside semester dates.
Option 1
Dell Road Apartments are walking distance from The University of Queensland, and are fully self-contained apartments. These are available for short or medium term bookings and are managed by Accommodation Services at UQ.
Option 2
Indooroopilly Lodge caters for short term visitors and can be pre-booked prior to your arrival to Brisbane, subject to availability. It is close to shops and public transport.
Option 3
Other short term accommodation providers are subject to availability and depend on individual preferences and budget. Please contact the accommodation provider directly.
Visitors whose stay is for 3 months or longer
Option 1
Whitmore Park International apartments are fully self contained apartments located within a short bus ride to The University of Queensland, and walking distance to public transport and shopping centres. Staying twin share in a large one bedroom apartment is a cost effective option for visitors arriving together. You are required to pay a bond which is refunded at the end of your tenancy, less any cleaning costs.
Option 2
Indooroopilly Lodge also caters for longer term visitors, subject to availability.
Option 3
Benson Court Motel and Taringa Gardens Motel are examples of local motel accommodation where you may choose to check in to on your arrival and stay there while looking for something longer term. Rental or share accommodation is normally best organised once you have arrived in Brisbane as you need to be “on the spot” when there is a vacancy to secure it with a deposit. These places can be found in The University of Queensland accommodation database.
Option 4
Real Estate Agents servicing the areas surrounding St Lucia campus manage a wide range of rental properties from apartments to houses. These are best sought once in Brisbane.
