ITEE Laboratory Rules
Security
- If installed, the security system shall be armed upon final exit by an authorised person
- Students should not loan their proximity cards to any other person or let others into rooms with their card
- Students should ensure their proximity cards are kept secure – lost cards must be reported immediately to the School Office (if the School Office is closed notify security on 3365 1234)
- Students must produce their student ID card if asked by a staff member
Food & Drink
- Food and drink is strictly forbidden in ITEE laboratories
Health & Safety
- Anyone entering a laboratory is required to be aware, and if required, undertake risk assessments of activities intended to be carried out within the facility
- Anyone suffering from any condition likely to compromise their own safety or the safety of others while in a laboratory must inform the school before lab access is sought
- Covered footwear must be worn at all times – thongs must not be worn in laboratories
- It is an individual’s responsibility to be aware of Personal Protective Equipment requirements displayed on signs or as advised
- There must always be at least two people in a laboratory
- Fire and evacuation alarms and the directions of Fire Wardens should always be obeyed
Computing Facilities
- Users should not attempt to access another person’s account or allow another person to access their account
- Users should not access another person’s files without their permission
- Users should not attempt to access any computer system for which they do not have a valid account
- Users should not attempt to circumvent any form of software or hardware protection or resource limits
- Users should not download or transmit data not directly related to ITEE studies
- No unauthorised software should be installed on school computers
- School installed software must not be modified nor deleted
- Information held in a user’s files should not be encrypted
- The Copyright Act should not be breached by actions such as reproducing, installing or using unlicensed software
Equipment & Furniture
- Equipment should never be removed or loaned – only the Laboratory Supervisor or the Engineering & Technical Support Manager can authorise the removal of equipment from facilities
- Furniture and fittings should not be tampered with
- An individual must not attempt to repair faulty equipment – any faults should be reported to the Laboratory Supervisor or the Engineering & Technical Support Manager
General Cleanliness
- Laboratories and facilities should be kept clean and tidy at all times. Should laboratories and facilities be found in any other condition, the Engineering and Technical Support Manager should be notified immediately.
