PES RHD student wins prize in APSRC 2015 poster competition

PES RHD students win prizes in poster competition

Congratulations to the four PES RHD students who won prizes in the poster competition held during the IEEE Queensland Section's 30 year celebrations held on 18th February, 2015 at the University of Queensland . The winners  include Nahid-al Masood, Junhyuck Seo, Shohana Deeba and Mehdi Mosadeghy. 6 winners were chosen out of the 35 participants from all Queensland universities. 

EAIT - 2013 Teaching Excellence Awards

Awarded To: Dr Nadarajah Mithulananthan and Dr Chandima Ekanayake

Both Mithulan and Chandima were recognised with awards for Teaching Excellence in the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Information Technology by Professor Graham Schaffer. The awards are given in recognition of exceptional teaching and innovative practices that enrich the learning experience of our students.

Australian Learning and Teaching Council Citation

Awarded To: Professor Tapan Saha

Professor Tapan Saha won the prestigious Australian Learning & Teaching Council Citation in 2009. He won this award for his contribution to enhancing undergraduate and postgraduate power engineering through leadership in industry engagement, in work-integrated learning and the collaborative development of innovative postgraduate programs. Citations are awarded to academic and professional staff who have made long standing contributions to the quality of student learning and improving the overall student experience. Each citation is work $10,000.

Awarded To: Professor Tapan Saha

Professor Tapan Saha won a Citation for outstanding contributions to student learning in 2008. He received this citation for his leadership in undergraduate and postgraduate power engineering education through industry engagement in work-integrated learning and the development of collaborative postgraduate programs.

Faculty of EAIT Inaugural Teaching Excellence Award (then EPSA)

Awarded To: Professor Tapan Saha

Professor Tapan Saha won one of the four inaugural Engineering Physical Science and Architecture (EPSA) Faculty Teaching Excellence Awards at the EPSA Teaching and Learning Showcase in 2007, during UQ Teaching and Learning Week.

GBST Prize for Best Software Project 2010

Awarded To: Mr Sami Saleh A Alsubhi (postgraduate student in software engineering)

Sami won the GBST Prize for Best Software Project titled "Web based energy management analysis software" in 2010. Sami developed a web-based software for real-time monitoring of electricity consumption at the university buildings. This software is currently being used by the PES Group. Load management features are being added to this software.

IEEE PES Student Travel Award

2011:

Mr Ruifeng (Richard) Yan (Phd student in power system engineering) won the IEEE PES student travel award in 2011 for presenting his paper titled "Investigation of Voltage Variations in Unbalanced Distribution Systems due to High Photovoltaic Penetrations" in the IEEE 2011 PES General Meeting at Detroit, MI USA.

Mr Muhammad Bachtiar Nappu (PhD student in power system engineering) won the IEEE PES student travel award in 2011 for presenting his paper titled "Evaluation of GENCO Strategy in Creating a Congested System for Exercising Market Power" in the IEEE 2011 PES General Meeting at Detroit, MI USA.

2010:

Miss Mai Nguyen (PhD student in power system engineering) won the IEEE PES student travel award in 2010 for presenting her paper titled "A Comparative Study of Voltage Stability for Long Distance HVAC and HVDC Interconnections" in the IEEE 2010 PES General Meeting at Minneapolis, USA.

Mr. Sudarshan Dahal (PhD student in power system engineering)won the IEEE PES student travel award in 2010 for presenting his paper titled "Investigation of Small Signal Stability of a Renewable Energy based Electricity Distribution System" in the IEEE 2010 PES General Meeting at Minneapolis, USA.
