 2005 Australian Communications Theory Workshop

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

  • October 29 '04: The deadline for submission of full papers has been extended until November 4, 2004. This extension also applies to submission of abstracts .... abstracts submitted by this date are guaranteed a poster slot in the workshop program.
  • November 26 '04: Abstracts are still being accepted for poster presentation and publication in the abstracts booklet....until January 12. Acceptance after this date is not guaranteed.
  • December 3 '04:  See authors.html for updated details on preparation and submission of camera ready papers.
  • December 3 '04: For an accepted paper to be published in the workshop proceedings: (i) An IEEE copyright form must be submitted by January 12, 2004. Please fax completed and signed IEEE copyright forms to "John Homer, General Chair AusCTW05, School of ITEE, The Univ. of Qld, Fax: +61 7 3365 4999". A copy of the copyright form can be obtained by following the 'IEEE Copyright Form' link from www.ieee.org/copyright . (ii) At least one author of the paper must be registered for attendance at the workshop by December 20, 2004. See registration.html for details on registration fees and registration instructions.
  • December 6 '04: We are happy to announce the following three overview presentations:

    Dr Steve Weller, The Univ. of Newcastle, "Low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes: from principles to practice"     

    Dr Kim Blackmore, The Australian National Univ. "The price of mobility in Adhoc Networks"

    Dr John Ness, EmSolutions, "Wireless Communications: taking theory to practice"

     

  • December 6 '04: The ARC Communications Research Network (ACoRN) is offering travel support to students of participating ACoRN organisations. More details will be made available after the next ACoRN Executive meeting on Dec. 20.
  • January 4 '05: An ACoRN half-day tutorial will be conducted on Tuesday February 1 from 8.30am to 1.00pm in the lecture theatre where AusCTW05 talks are to be held. The topic is yet to be confirmed, but will be relevant for any student/researcher working in the area of Communications Theory. Potential topics are MIMO System Design, Multiuser Communications. The final topic will be advertised as soon as it is confirmed. The tutorial is free of charge, but initially restricted to ACoRN participants. If room available, non-ACoRN participants are also invited to attend on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please send an email to Lars.Rasmussen@unisa.edu.au to register for attending the tutorial.
  • January 4 '05: An ACoRN planning meeting may be held on the afternoon of Friday Feb 4 (within the AusCTW05 venue). Confirmation is hoped to be provided soon. This meeting will be open to all ACoRN particiapants. The meeting is to provide an opportunity for ACoRN participants to (i) be informed about the ACoRN activity plans and (ii) give input to the ACoRN activities.
  • January 6 '05: The ACoRN sponsored half-day tutorial topic has been finalised: "Turbo Receiver Design: From Theory to Practice", to be presented by Dr Mark Reed, NICTA. More details on the tutorial can be found at http://www.itr.unisa.edu.au/~lars/acorn/tutorial.html

  • January 19 '05: The full AusCTW05 program details are now available from the AusCTW05 website. Please also see the above ACoRN websites for the ACoRN associated activities at AusCTW05.
  • January 19 '05: Up until 5pm Thursday January 20, submitted abstracts will be accepted for poster allocation and inclusion in the abstract booklet. After this date/time, abstract acceptance will be officially closed.
  • January 19 '05: Due to incompleted renovations to part of the venue site, the poster display area and registration area has been shifted (from the Schonell Theatre Complex) to the Holt Room in the Student Union Complex. This is located next to the Schonell Theatre. See the venue webpage AusCTW05 venue for more details.   
  • January 19 '05: The workshop dinner will take place on Thursday night February 3, within the Innes Room of the Student Union Complex. Each paid registrant will obtain a dinner ticket, upon registration. Additional tickets (e.g. for spouses) may be purchased at $35/ticket at the registration desk.
  • January 19 '05: Delegates' spouses/partners/etc are welcome to use the Holt Room from 9-9.30am daily for informal gatherings/meeting point.
