The scholarship is part of the Queensland Government's Innovation Skills Fund and provides $22,500 funding for outstanding PhD students to undertake innovative research in Queensland.

Matt’s research will focus on the psychology of fingerprint identification and will develop computer tools and training methods to help fingerprint experts optimise their decision making.

Matt's principal advisor is Dr Jason Tangen (pictured at left) and his associate advisor is Prof Penelope Sanderson.
