I think perhaps you should call makelinks and getlinks earlier in the
build script (or perhaps init script?) otherwise the error message
telling you to check the notes in the build script does not occur, and
the remove-symbols option does not actually fix the problem.  Running
makelinks and getlinks prior to building and initialising allows it to
do it's thing, warning you of the problem and then enabling it to solve
it.
