COMP2303/COMP7306 Exams

Mid-semester Exam

Note that the questions 8 and 18 had no correct answer and were discounted from consideration.

The actual exam paper used will be published after the special mid-semester exam is held.


The mid-semester exam will be held during the Friday lecture session in week 7 (Friday 24 April, 2009 at 1-2pm). Three different venues will be used. The venue you should attend is based on the first letter of your family name:

  • Family name begins with letters A to H - go to 50-T103
  • Family name begins with letters J to P - go to 1-E215
  • Family name begins with letters R to Z - go to 50-T105

The mid-semester exam will be be multiple-choice open-book. Open-book means that you may bring any written material into the exam room (i.e. anything on paper, including books). You may also bring a calculator. Other computing or communication devices are NOT permitted. You will require a HB or 2B pencil and an eraser to complete the mid-semester exam.  

You must bring suitable photo ID, preferably your student card, to the exam and have it available for inspection for the duration of the exam.

The exam paper will have 20 questions. The exam duration will be 45 minutes. The exam covers all course materal from before the mid-semester break, with an emphasis on C programming.

Results via SMS

You may register to receive your exam mark via SMS.

Sample Mid-semester Exam Paper

A sample mid-semester exam paper is available (sample mid-semester 102kB). The time for the exam (45 minutes), number of questions (20) and the front page instructions will be the same on the actual exam papers. The style and distribution of questions may vary, but the general topics will be the same.

Answers will NOT be provided. (Note, however, many of the answers can be determined by compiling/running the relevant C code.) Feel free to discuss possible answers on the course newsgroup.
