* Electronic Submissions should be to the submit webpage. All submission must start with your student number but can then be any further characters and file type. For example 32145678_prog_rep.pdf or 33344455_walker.doc. Including your family name as well as your student number will obviously help locate the file quickly and easily if needed. It is recommended that you submit both a pdf file and the native format file (eg word .doc) to the website. Students in both COMP6803 and COMP7801 use the COMP6803 submission page. Students in both COMP6804 and COMP7802 use the COMP6804 submission page.

Finding a project and the project database

You can use the project database for finding your project.

Students interested in a project (be it honours or otherwise) should consult with the academics that are associated with it, and students with their own ideas for a project should consult with an academic, as a potential supervisor, who they judge to have a similar interest. Use email for establishing a contact.

You can also come up with your own project ideas. An industry-close source of project ideas can be found from The CEED (Co-operative Education for Enterprise Development) Program. Not all CEED projects are suitable for this project course and it is your responsibility to negotiate with project proposers. Please note that you still need a supervisor from the school and that the project needs to run over two semesters with an appropriate workload.

Confirming your topic

Once you have found a topic and supervisor, then the supervisor can sign you on in the project database. Note that it is your responsibility to find a topic and supervisor. A student who enrols in a project based course must finalise their choice of a project topic by the end of the first week of the Semester in which they first enrol. All projects will be managed through the project database once they go ahead.

Supervisors and examiners

At least one of the supervisors associated with the project should be an ITEE academic. The supervisor is responsible for ensuring that the assessment is completed for all parts of the project. This responsibility includes finding a suitable examiner for the project early on in the project so he/she can complete parts of the assessment (written thesis and oral examination). A suitable examiner is one that is not associated with the project but would qualify as a supervisor (normally an ITEE academic).
