 Data Mining workshop

UQ/SPSS Data Mining Workshop

19th and 20th February 2004

Data mining is the process of finding interesting or useful information in large data sets.  It uses a combination of statistical analysis, modeling techniques and machine learning to detect subtle patterns and relationships in data and infers rules that can allow prediction of future results.

It is a skill that is becoming increasingly useful in dealing with the complex data sets generated by modern technology for science, business and communication.

The School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering is offering a two-day workshop on data mining principles and practice using the SPSS Clementine program. The University of Queensland has a current site license for Clementine and the workshop cost includes a 3-month license for UQ staff and students to run on UQ-owned machines.
