UQ/SPSS Data Mining Workshop
19th and 20th February 2004
Data
mining is the process of finding interesting or useful information in large
data sets. It uses a combination of statistical
analysis, modeling techniques and machine learning to detect subtle patterns
and relationships in data and infers rules that can allow prediction of future results.
It is a
skill that is becoming increasingly useful in dealing with the complex data
sets generated by modern technology for science, business and communication.
