Research Interests
My primary research interests are in systems engineering for robots and agents. In particular, multi-agent coordination, control and navigation as well as complete mechatronic solutions for the real world.
Recently, through the Thinking Systems project, I have become interested in exploring how engineers and biologists can support each other through collaboration.
I am particularly interested in engineering the next generation of humaniod robots as a follow on from our labs highly successful GuRoo project. Humaniods represent a challenging systems engineering problem and will be a good match to a world built for humans.

Prior Involvments
For several years I worked on the RoboRoos project, a team of autonomous soccer robots that competed in the annual RoboCup competitions. I represented the University of Queensland five times at the international competitions, achieving second place twice. I also held technical and organisational committee positions.
Another project was a 5 DOF video conferencing robot that allowed tele-embodiment of the user's state of mind and gestures.
