Distributed Energy Management: Project Planning & Scope Study  (Feb. 2007 – Oct. 2007)

Aurora Energy was currently undertaking a pilot of BPL (broadband over powerline) communications technology which deliveries high-speed data to its customers using the existing power distribution infrastructure in Tasmania.  The system is hybrid fiber-BPL and so offers high-speed communications in a FTTN (Fiber to the Node) with RF over powerline for the local connection to subscribers. Introduction of the technology offers a number of research opportunities to be explored both with the Energy Transformed Flagship and within the ICT Centre. We are scoping this project.
