 Software Engineering Practices Survey

The 2006 Software Engineering Practices Survey is now closed. Data was collected between 6 October and 6 November 2006. Summary data is now available. Thank you to all 448 software engineers who participated.

The questionnaire is still available.

The purpose of this survey is to gather information from practicing software engineers and programmers to determine which methods, practices and tools are used in the performance of their jobs. Respondents in as many countries as possible are desired.

We are particularly interested in determining how requirements are gathered and tracked, which software methodologies are employed, which software metrics are employed, which test strategies are used and which software development environments are used. This information will be used to direct further research into the development of a software maintenance methodology.

The questionnaire is completely anonymous. We will not ask you for or retain any information which might enable us to find you. The information gathered will be used only for statistical purposes.
