Software Maintenance Information Survey

The 2008 Software Maintenance Information Survey is now closed. Data was collected between 6 October and 6 November 2006. Summary data and the questionnaire are available in my Ph.D. thesis. Thank you to all who participated.

The purpose of this survey is to gather information from practicing Java software maintainers to determine the way they think about software maintenance. The survey is being conducted by David Hyland-Wood and A/Prof. David Carrington.

We are particularly interested in determining what kind of information practitioners would like to use during software maintenance. This information will be used to direct further research into the development of a software maintenance methodology.

The questionnaire is anonymous. We will not ask you for or retain any information which might enable us to find you after statistics are calculated. The information gathered will be used only for statistical purposes. Email addresses collected will be deleted immediately upon completion of statistical analysis. If you decide you want to withdraw from the survey after you have submitted your answers, please contact the staff; your answers will be removed if we are contacted prior to removal of the information needed to find your answers. There is no payment, refund or cost for participants.

This study has been cleared in accordance with the ethical review processes of the University of Queensland (clearance number ITEE 2008/02).
