Gallery is an open source image database project. Gallery is mature in it's development and provides a range of functionality and features that are useful.
The features and technologies Include:
Open source.
Well documented.
Images can be stored in "Albums".
Provides support for fine level granularity access privileges.
A platform independent solution.
Facilitates customisation and extensions.
MySQL Database driven.
Image manipulation, and thumbnail generation.
PHP.
Apache Web Server.
Disadvantages:
Current interface is not particularly well suited to a scientific image database.
Specific support for scientific annotations and metadata is not currently supported.
