Image Gallery Database (IGDB)

Web:

http://www.image-archive.org/

Features:

Database driven.

Uses MySQL.

Written entirely in Java.

Free.

Optionally Apache and PHP (The web component).

3MB for client and admin software.

GUI interface (Run from .jar executables).

IGDB comes as a 3-applications package.

IGDB_Admin.

IGDB_Client.

IGDB_Webclient (ptional).

IGDB_Admin lets the site manager create, edit or remove IGDB users and set their rights.

IGDB_Client lets the users feed their own images into the IGDB MySQL server as newly created mirror galleries, update or delete those galleries . Images can then be further organized into virtual galleries. All galleries can be browsed using three different views : a form view, a table view or a image mosaic view. And of course any image or image group can be retrived using criteria from any image information field.

IGDB_Webclient is an ptional package to be installed by the site administrator, which will allow anyone to view certain public galleries, using a standard web browser. What image gallery is made public is at the choice of the user who created the gallery and decided to share his/her images.

Disadvantages:

Very poor documentation.

No SQL table create scripts.

Lots of errors needed to be resolved during installation/trial.

Reliant of servers running and setup properly & no help/documentation on setup.

MySQL server takes a while to configure. Lots of error messages to resolve before the program will work.

No source code (Although may be possible to obtain).

How it works:

Client and Admin module.

Uses MySQL IGDB tables to store data and Images.

JAVA GUI.

Apache and PHP for web component.

To install need the following:

MySQL and Configured (Not much help documents or scripts to configure).
