ESG Honours student internship at Sun

Andrew Crouch, Honours student in the ESG group (supervisor: Assoc/Prof J. Indulska) has been awarded an internship at Sun Microsystems, Mountain View, California.

Andrew and 2 other ITEE students will be working over the summer (winter in California) 2004-5, on the Squawk Virtual Machine, a research project that examines better ways of building virtual machines. Sun advertised for two internships, and the fact that they appointed three is an indication of the high standing of our graduates.


PACE workshop

The PACE project organised a very succesful workshop: The First International Workshop on Advanced Context Modelling, Reasoning and Management, at the Ubicomp'2004 conference, Nottingham, UK, September 2004

PACE involvement in the workshop includes Assoc/Prof Jadwiga Indulska as the workshop chair and Dr Karen Henricksen and Ted McFadden as the Program Committee members. The workshop description can be found on the PACE web page.


ESG and UQ/ITEE to host ICFPT 2004

The Embedded Systems Group and the School of ITEE, are hosting the 3rd annual IEEE International Conference on Field Programmable Technology.

ICFTP 2004 will be held at the University Campus in Brisbane, Australia, from the 6th to 8th of December, 2004.

ESG involvement in ICFPT includes Professon Neil Bergmann as the conference general chair, John Williams as the publications chair, and Peter Sutton as conference financial chair. There are still more volunteer places to be filled, please contact Neil for more information.

Previously years' ICFPT have been held in Hong Kong (2002) and Tokyo (2003).
