Paul Bourke Abstract Paul Bourke is employed as visualisation researcher at Swinburne Universe providing scientific visualisation services to researchers in the astrophysics group and the wider university. One of his many interests is innovative and immersive display technologies and how they may be used to enhance scientific visualisation and public education. Immersive environments Paul is involved with include the design of VROOM (Virtual ROOM currently installed at the Melbourne Museum), numerous stereoscopic displays in public spaces (eg: Powerhouse and Tasmania Museum), consulting on the AVIE project (surround cylindrical display at ICinema), and more recently planetarium and other dome configurations. Paul will discuss a number of his current projects, their relative merits and the implications for developers who may wish design software for these environments.
