Applet Demo

Below is a Java applet illustrating several pre-stored 3D reconstructions of human faces. In order to run this applet, you will need to have installed the following components:

Java Runtime Environment (JRE) v.1.3.1 (or above)
Java 3D v.1.3 (or above)
DirectX 8.0 (or above) if you've selected the DirectX version of Java 3D previously

Furthermore, as the applet involves intense image processing, your computer should at least be "well equipped" for complex imaging (my computer is a PIII 750 with 256MB RAM and a 8MB video card with 3D acceleration).

Once the 3D reconstruction is displayed, please click on it once to enable manual manipulation. The 3D reconstruction can then be controlled with the following keys:

up arrow / down arrow (enlarge / shrink)
left arrow / right arrow (horizontal rotation)
A / Z (vertical rotation)
NUMPAD4 / NUMPAD6 (horizontal translation)
NUMPAD8 / NUMPAD2 (vertical translation)

NOTE:

The time taken to load each 3D reconstruction varies, depending on the size of the data file (.3d) and the power of your computer.
