[csse1000-all] Prac Exam info & hints
Dear CSSE1000/7035 students,
Below is some information about the prac exam in the coming week (week
5, commencing Monday 18 August). You should read all of this email - it
contains important information.
Prac exams will take place in your regularly scheduled prac sessions,
during the FIRST HOUR of those sessions. (Labs will be closed during the
second hour of prac sessions, but tutorials will run as usual.) Your
CSSE1000 My Record page
(http://www.itee.uq.edu.au/~csse1000/my_record.php ) now includes
details of your prac exam session and a summary of your online quiz
results. If you had not signed up to a prac session, you have been
arbitrarily added to a session - please see your My Record page for the
session details. Prac session signon is currently closed, but will
reopen at 9am on Friday August 22nd.
Make sure that you:
(1) attend your session on time (late admission is possible, but you
will get no extra time);
(2) have completed an online OH&S declaration at
http://studenthelp.itee.uq.edu.au/ohs/ (if not, you will not be
permitted to sit your prac exam);
(3) wear covered footwear (if not, you will not be permitted to sit your
prac exam).
You should bring with you:
(1) Your student card (you will need this displayed during the prac
exam)
(2) Writing implements
(3) Your prac workbook (optional)
You must attempt and pass the prac exam to pass this course. If you fail
your prac exam, you are entitled to another attempt (a supplementary
prac exam). Please contact me ASAP after failing to be scheduled into a
supplementary prac exam session - these will also run next week. If you
miss a prac exam because of extenuating circumstances (e.g. medical),
please contact me ASAP to be scheduled for a special prac exam. An
application form for a special prac exam can be found at
http://www.itee.uq.edu.au/~csse1000/assessment/
Some HINTS for the prac exam:
(1) Your prac exam will look just like the sample
(http://www.itee.uq.edu.au/~csse1000/assessment/prac_exams/ ) except the
circuit will be different. Make sure you're familiar with the
instructions and the marking scheme before you enter the exam.
(2) Make sure you're familiar with all of the requirements of a circuit
schematic diagram - see the prac 1 resource on this at
http://www.itee.uq.edu.au/~csse1000/pracs/_Circuit_Schematic/index.html
(3) Don't forget power supply connections (both for circuit schematics
and when wiring up circuits)
(4) You will be provided with 1 of each type of chip you might possibly
need. Their pinouts (and more) can be found at
http://www.itee.uq.edu.au/~csse1000/assessment/prac_exams/pinouts.html
Please let me know if you have any questions,
Peter
