[microblaze-uclinux] Hi Everyone! Im new, let me introduce myself...

First of all this is such a cool idea! An OS on an FPGA? YES!
I dont have much experience with the Microblazer or Xilinx
for that matter, but Id love to watch and learn from the sidelines!

I am a student at the University of Irvine, California,
studying digital design.
As class project, we put the open-core PIC processor onto a
Altera UP2 board (Flex 70 gates). We even made it output the
state of the PIC registers onto a VGA! After that I was
hooked on this stuff! (I still have the project if anyone is
interested!)

Anyways, Id like to learn the Xilinx world of FPGAs. We have
access to Xilinx ISE 4.1 and the EDK (dont know what version).

I was thinking of buying a Xilinx development board. Xess sells
one but it has only a Spartan II (50k gate) fpga. Will the microblazer
and/or the Clinux fix on this or would I need a bigger FPGA? What
is everyone else using?

The way I found this mailing list was somewhat by accident. I
saw a website (microtronix) that sells a uclinux port for the
Altera Nios processor (APEX, Cyclone, Stratrix), so I started
searching if there was anything similar for the Xilinx. Sure enough!

Cheers!
Erich
