The "Toolchain Sources" web page states that you have a tarball
derived from the Xilinx sources. I took that to mean that you had
changed something.

I had problems with stringizing operators in binutils, but couldn't
work out what was failing in gcc.

I'm wondering if it needs a later host gcc version than 2.96.
