I've given some thought to releasing a new demo package with networking 
support, but it's a bit tricky because things like MAC and IP addresses 
will get hardcoded, and probably be incompatible with users' local 
network configurations.

Please try my suggestions to your other email about ping etc first - if 
we can get it resolved here on the list then it will make it easier for 
others in the same position as well.
