Thanks for your quick reply. I will have a lock at the
places you pointed out first thing in the morning.
I can't wait to get these things sorted out tomorrow,
so that I can dig deeper into the adventure of kernel
hacking as soon as possible. I am thinking about incorperating
the system ace module from the linuxppc tree into
uClinux. I'll see how far long ago operating systems course
at univertity will birng me.

Actually on the eth0 interface. Something has to
be out there :)

I compiled standalone ping from "network applications" as I remembered you
writing something about busybox's ping not working properly.
Ping just keeps quiet until I hit ^c. Then it anounces something like
x packets sent 100% loss. I can provide you more
details, when I am back at my desk.

That might explain the behaviour of my latest build, which
which hangs up right before sash shows up. I had both chaches enabled
with this build. So I will better return to the more conservative
settings.
