Thanks for the feedback everyone,

I believe the Microblaze and the OR1200 from opencores.net can be
accommodated by the platform(s) that I have in mind.  I have the 
Microblaze EDK and of course access to the OR1200 IP, so I am going to
start compiling and synthesizing some test architectures and see where I
get. I will let you guys know.
