[microblaze-uclinux] Problem with uClinux demo

Hi,

We have tried following the instructions for the demo. After days of trial
and error we managed to get uClinux running when executing from RAM,
although we cannot always repeat it successfully. The larger issue though
is when we try to get it to run from flash. There is no progress at
all. Here's what it says:

J-Boot Menu
-----------

1. Execute Flash image
2. Execute RAM image
3. Erase Flash
4. Write image into Flash

Make your choice>1
len=-1
      ...done

Verifying Kernel Image...Error at 8014d5e4/ff24d5e4 Contents
93ffff7f/93ffff7f
Halting...

The part saying "Error at ??? Contents ???" keeps changing for each
try. We've tried following the instructions in the demo but it
fails. After erasing the flash, we do a write and it keeps working for a
while but when we read the contents at 0xff000000 there only 1's
stored. After trying to execute from flash we get the error message
above. In another attempt we did repeated writes to flash but we ended up
the same anyway. We also tried using flashtools and it seemed to work ok
at first but we got the same error message and later we couldn't run it at
all.

Here's how our board is set up:

Memec Design
Virtex-II System Board
Revision 3A
Part #: DS-DB-V2MB1000

FPGA xc2v1000-fg456

Jumper settings:
JP1 all closed indicating Master Serial Mode
JP4 open. VIN.
JP6, JP9 and JP12 closed. Means using on-board voltages (3.3V, 2.5V and
1.5V).
JP7, JP10 and JP13 open. No bypassing of on-board voltages.
JP15 closed. Providing input pin A21 with 3.3V. We have no idea what this
does.
JP16 open. (Closed means permanently in power down mode.)
JP18, JP19, JP20, JP21, JP26 all on pin 1 & 2 for 3.3V
JP23 and JP24 open. Both on-board oscillators running. Have tried with
only JP23 or JP24 open.
JP17 we can't find this one.
JP22 pin 1&2 and 3&4 closed. Without these we couldn't run
configure_fpga.sh
JP25 open. We cannot find JP25 but we definately haven't closed it and the
P160 board works because we use the COM-port.
JP27open. Closed means SelectMAP Enabled?
JP28 pin 2&3 closed. SelectMAP PROM. We think this indicates using
PROM. After closing this we could run configure_prom.sh
JP29 all open. JTAG. Meaning?
User DIP Switch (SW2)
DIP switch 1 ON. The rest off. Have tried all on.

Insight
P160 Communications module
Part #: DS-BD-MBEXP1
Oct. 2001 rev 1

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
