There is kernel USB support available in uClinux, and the uclinux-dev 
mailing list archive suggests that people have got it going with 
storage-style devices.

If you have a working USB master core for microblaze, it should just be 
a case of writing a linux device driver for it.  Normally you can take 
an existing driver and adapt it - much easier than writing one from scratch!

We will also be starting some final year students on microblaze uclinux 
related projects like this.  The first effort, interfacing microblaze to 
an external CS8900 MAC/PHY should be completed soon.
