Also, just make sure your kernel tree is up to date with CVS, and you've applied at least the critical patch from the website.  Ensure you have the latest toolchain as well.
Yes, we are using Insight v2mb1000 board with the mbvanilla_net target. The only change we made to it was to delete some lines that caused problems in etc/download.cmd. That file now looks like this:
setMode -bscan
setCable -p auto
identify
assignfile -p 2 -file implementation/download.bit
program -p 2
quit

So, I'd try doing a make distclean, rerun the configuration menu, select mbbvanilla_net, no other options, try building and booting that.
