Hmm, something sounds broken there.  Are you patched up to the latest 
EDK service pack etc?

Also, it is advisable to start mb-gdb from a separat Xygwin shell - 
don't try to start it from within XMD.

EDK, platform studio, platgen, libgen, xmd, the whole thing, is all 
supported native under Linux now.  There's a subdirectory on the CDs 
that contains the base install, and all of the service packs are 
available for linux as well.

There's some minor issues regaring kernel versions, and device drivesr, 
but the Xilinx answers database has it covered.

Yep, understandable.  If you've got a stable VMware setup, I recommend 
you use the Linux side of that as much as possible for the uClinux side 
of things - building kernels, debugging, that sort of thing.
