Yes, it is possible and we had a system like that running before we switched over to the ppc.
The driver is included in cvs under drivers/block/xilinx_sysace.
We wrote our own bootloader which copies the kernel into sdram.
You have to figure out the kernel startposition on your cf.
We copied it raw without filesystem to a special partion on cf and mounted another partion as root filesystem.
All the bootloader does is that it copies the kernel from the raw partion into sdram.
Use dd to copy the kernel to the raw partion.
