[microblaze-uclinux] Questions on auto-config build flow

Hi John,

Thanks for the auto-config flow!

I'm making my way through my first attempt at using it to build a uClinux
release that will run on our new Spartan-3/1500 prototyping board, following
the instructions in the "README" file, included in the tarball for the new
(i.e. - auto-config based) platform you just released. At first, it wasn't
clear to me how any information from my particular board arrangement and/or
FPGA design would make it into the build flow, if I just followed the
instructions in your README file and entered the 'make init_bram' and 'make
libs' commands from a Linux command prompt from within the directory into
which I extracted the above-mentioned tarball. After all, from within this
freshly extracted directory, there'd be no link to the directory in which
I'd built my customized FPGA design.

Then, I noticed your mention of the 'system.mhs' file in the first paragraph
of your README, where you're explaining the historical problem of doing
custom builds of uClinux. It occurred to me that the idea might be to
overwrite the 'system.mhs' file from your tarball with the one from my FPGA
project directory and then run the 'make ...' commands. Is that correct?

If so, it raises the question: what other files should be over-written
before running the 'make ...' commands. Can you provide a list of these?

If I'm completely off track here, can you point me towards the light?

Thanks,
