I have rerun part of the install and find now shows ncurses directories and
files in the glibc directory of the uClinix-dist.  I still wonder if the
issue is that config file is looking for Ncurses, which does not exist.

It looks like the SuSE install in your VMware virtual machine is lacking
either the C compiler (note the error "cc: command not found"), or the
ncurses libraries (required by the menu config tools).

Try doing "make config" - if it works OK then I think it will be the ncurses
libraries that are missing.  You should be able to easily update your SuSE
system from the CD or some net/live update mechanism.
