Blast!I was moving on to profiling openssl, but found that the gprof support in uClibc had been removed not too long ago. I guess that means it didn't work that great?
Any other profiling options that I can use to measure the performance of applications running directly on the board? I may have to settle with desktop profiling and assume the performance bottlenecks are more or less in the same place.

Good news (sort of),I was able to run openssl encryption methods using the openssl app (RC4-40 worked at least ;).Bad news: SSH didn't compile on first run, so I'll have to see why that's freaking out on me. (don't have the output at the moment).Still haven't found out why Boa + SSL is hanging, but openssl might be a good substitute for me.BTW, the purpose of getting an encryption/decryption algorithm working is to move the fun parts in to hardware, and connect that hardware via FSL links (and use John's driver)!Jonathan On Oct 24, 2005, at 8:54 PM, David McCullough wrote:Jivin Jonathan Jung lays it down ...-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 David, I didn't know that the speed option implemented fork(). However, I don't think that would be the reason for Boa hanging. It's not, someone asked in it was possible to run "openssl speed", it will not be possible on a !MMU uClinux system.I'll give scp a shot. If I can't get boa working (and SCP does), I may be able to use that for my project purposes.Others have it going (so it seems), so it should be possible ;-) Cheers, DavidmOn Oct 24, 2005, at 4:41 PM, David McCullough wrote:Jivin Jonathan Jung lays it down ...Thanks for the info Ivan! Are you able to execute the 'openssl speed' command in your environment? I do think that it is a problem with the (system/kernel)configuration on my end, as the guide for openssl and boa+ssl don'tmake any mention of hangs or failures.openssl speed uses fork and has not been ported to uclinux AFAIK. In fact, is will be a non-trvial change to make it work on uClinux :-) Try the apps, scp, ssh and use them to determine your performance, Cheers, Davidm--David McCullough, davidm@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, Custom Embedded Solutions + Security Ph:+61 734352815 Fx:+61 738913630 http://www.uCdot.org http:// www.cyberguard.com___________________________ microblaze-uclinux mailing list microblaze-uclinux@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxProject Home Page : http://www.itee.uq.edu.au/~jwilliams/mblaze- uclinux Mailing List Archive : http://www.itee.uq.edu.au/~listarch/ microblaze-uclinux/___________________________ microblaze-uclinux mailing list microblaze-uclinux@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxProject Home Page : http://www.itee.uq.edu.au/~jwilliams/mblaze- uclinux Mailing List Archive : http://www.itee.uq.edu.au/~listarch/ microblaze-uclinux/
