Hello,
I'm new to both uClinux and the Microblaze and I'm hoping I can get some
basic questions answered regarding building uClinux for the MicroBlaze
on the Insight/Memec S3MB1500 board.
I have a full CVS checkout of uClinux-dist and uClinux-2.4.x on an
Ubuntu 5.10 Linux system. I've also created the symbolic link mapping
"uClinux-2.4.x" as "uClinux-dist/linux-2.4.x". My next step is to
change directory into the "uClinux-dist" directory and run "make
menuconfig".
Unfortunately, I don't see a "Target Platform Selection" menu item as
indicated in the documentation on the MicroBlaze uClinux website. I'm
not sure if this is because of recent changes to the uClinux source tree
or not. I do see a "Vendor/Product/Selection --->" and
"Kernel/Library/Defaults Selection --->" menu item. Is this what I
should see?
In any case I press on and choose "Vendor/Product Selection --->" to
then select "Insight" as the Vendor and "mbvanilla_net" as the Insight
Product. Then I exit these menus. I have a feeling this is where I'm
going off track.
Next I then choose "Kernel/Library/Defaults Selections" and select
"uClibc" and "Default all settings (lose changes)". I then exit these
menus.
When I exit where the make system goes through the kernel configuration
process.
Is the process above at all correct configuring the uClinux kernel for
the "Insight/Memec S3MB1500" hardware I'm targeting?
I apologize if this question is very basic, but hopefully I'll be able
to pick this stuff up quickly once I learn the lay of the land a little
better.
Thanks,
Mike Thompson
