[microblaze-uclinux] Fresh design question

Hello everyone,

this is my first question on this list, but I carefully read all
articles from last half-month... Also I did a lot of searching...

Ok, now my question:

I have to design a FPGA board, capable of runing uClinux, and
application to communicate with outer world over ethernet, and some
devices over a CAN network... Also some GPIO pins!

What I need is some reference designs from where I could start to
build my board... I did a lot of googling, and searching on xilinx
site and on the Internet. I plan to design my board to be something
between Spartan-3E starter kit and Spartan-3 SP305 board. Can you
please help me about some question regarding hardware and software:

1. Should I use SRAM or SDRAM?

2. Could I put SDRAM and FLASH on same bus, and run uClinux from that
board? (I think not, but ...)

3. Could I use CAN controller MCP2515 attached to SPI core with
can4linux driver?

4. For ethernet, what is better, in term of easiness for
implementation, just PHY or complete (MAC+PHY) chip conected on EMC?

5. What is IC3 and IC4 on Xilinx Spartan-3E board? Nothimg in
schematic with that references, and also in gerber files that part of
board is hidden...

6. Is there working core for TFT (STN) LCD connection to microblaze
and which I could use with frame buffer driver from uClinux tree?

Ok, this is all for my first post, thank you in advance, and I promise
that I will post my board on this list... If I ever complete it?
