Re: [microblaze-uclinux] sources for microblaze-related software

Hi Daniel,

The Microblaze situation puzzles me and I find it hard to get a grip of it. I want to build my own toolchain, and build my own images of everything from u-boot, uclinux 2.6, busybox and whatever my project may end up wanting. Downloading and using binaries are fine for quick testing and demos, but source is essential for real projects IMHO.

developer.petalogix.com

We've bundled the kernel, u-boot, uclinux-dist, toolchain, hardware reference designs and other helpful bits and pieces into a single full source distribution.

You can download gcc toolchain sources from www.petalogix.com as well, if you wish. These are just a repackage of Xilinx's source tarballs.

So, where is the latest and greatest source tarballs/patches/cvs repositories for these tools (in their microblaze flavours or perhaps some of them can be built out of their standard tarballs/releases)?

For microblaze uclinux 2.6, is the patches on http://sourceforge.net/projects/microblaze the most recent? If so, what are they diffed against and what toolchain do I need to build? (The patches refer to linux-2.6.13.4 but it isn't clear to me if that is a stock kernel tree or with some other patches applied.)

2.6 is a work in progress. Go here for details on our latest 2.6 work (2.6.19).

Most google searches and links (for just about anything microblaze related) end up on John Williams' fine page, but that contains informations that seem to be updated no later than November 2005.

Yes, those pages are indeed quite old. I am still at the University but our Linux work is now made public via PetaLogix. It's all still freely available, full source etc. The documentation at developer.petalinux.com is better than anything that was ever on my old uni web pages.

I hope this clears things up a little.

Regards,

John
