I am not aware of anyone doing kgdb support for MicroBlaze, and
certainly within the kernel version in PetaLinux and the uClinux CVS
tree, there is no support for it.

HW debugging the kernel via JTAG, using the opb_mdm core and XMD on the
host with GDB, works well in most cases. Is there a specific reason you
cannot, or don't want to use this?

John, The main reason is familiarity with xmon debugging from previous
embedded PowerPC Linux work. I liked the fact that when a system paniced the
debugger was there and didn't have to always start the system via the
debugger. But there is always time to learn new things

Regards,

John
