Sorry for the obvious, but :

a.) You are using petalinux-v0.20-rc3.tar.gz ?


b.) Which terminal emulation are you using ?
(switch off hardare handshake)

c.) Baudrate ? The xilinx demos usually run on 9600/19200.
uclinux uses 115200 baud

d.) The bitfile loads O.K. ?
