[microblaze-uclinux] PetaLinux/U-Boot on Suzaku?
Hi again,
thanks for the follow-ups to my last posting, they were very helpful!
I am sitting here with my Spartan-3e Board and experimenting with
PetaLinux. I am very happy with that.
Now it comes to the point that I have to do a little project (writing a
few simple device drivers for absurd hardware) for my university (I
already use their EDK remotely *g*).
The software should run on a Suzaku SZ130 in the end.
The Suzaku has only a SPI flash used to store the FPGA bitstream and a
SMSC LAN9115 ethernet chip (not just a PHY!!).
The bootloader combination supplied with the board is something called
BBoot and as second stage loader "The Hermit". BBoot accepts S-record
data, but seems not to work. With FS-Boot I have no problems loading and
starting SW. But FS-Boot does not work with SPI flash.
I could imagine using/modifying BBoot for my purposes.
But what about U-Boot? I tried to compile in the LAN91111 driver (sounds
similar to LAN9115), but it did simply not work...
Can U-Boot handle the SPI flash on microblaze?
For now, if I want to test an image on the Suzaku, I have to:
- program (RAM) a custom bit file containing FS-Boot instead of BBoot
- serially load a stripped-down U-Boot
- upload my Kernel/Rootfs image via yModem
....that takes LONG... :-(
Any experience? Suggestions?
Best wishes,
Philipp :-)
