Re: [microblaze-uclinux] What recommended cores/settings should be used for the current EDK Version?

Hi John,

Responses inline below.

I’ve noticed that there seem to be a lot of emails lately about new Ethernet cores in the newer EDK versions and a lot of trouble getting them to work. My impression is that this is very much in flux.

What I’d like to ask is – for the latest petalinux build, and EDK 9.2 (or 10.1), what are the recommended cores that I should use for the ml501?

So in summary:

For a basic system on the ml501:

Which Ethernet core (assuming licensing is not an issue)?

ethernet_lite works out of the box, ll_temac support is coming Real Soon Now :) I've got it going on ML505, so ML501 should be straight forward.

Which Flash core/settings?

Same as always - just use whatever HW interface BSB gives you, and use standard petalinux BSB / MSS settings.

Which memory core for the DDR memory

mpmc3 is supported in PetaLinux (for CPU connections only, ll_temac coming).

What cache settings?

Same as always, nothing has changed. I'd be very interested in reports on performace with the new microcaches (ie 256 bytes) vs the larger 2/4/8kbyte.

Cheers,

John
